Say hello to BeGOAT influencer, @Josh_Reports. Josh considers himself a professional ski bum looking to spread the stoke and talk about the weather. Each morning, he delivers the daily Mt. Bachelor weather report from the chairlift, then kindheartedly wraps up his update by reminding everyone to “enjoy every day, y’all”.
Well, we wanted to get to know Josh a little better and introduce him to the BeGOAT fan club! Grab your beloved BeGOAT flavor and kick your feet back as we go on this wild ride with Josh –
How long have you lived in Central Oregon?
I was born and raised in Bend, although I spent most of my life near Tumalo which is just four miles North of Bend. I graduated from Redmond High School even though I technically lived in the Mt. View district. Then I made my way to OSU in Corvallis to pursue college and eventually made the transfer back to Central Oregon to finish at OSU-Cascades Campus. After graduating, I spend a few years in Montana, then made the move back to Bend during the onset of the COVID pandemic in March 2020.
What brought you to Bend?
Originally, my parents brought me to Central Oregon. After graduating and making the move to Montana, I made the decision to return back to Bend once the pandemic hit.
Tell us about this awesome rig you drive around!
Yeah, my ambulance, it is a super fun rig! It’s been my full-time house for about a year and a half now, maybe closer to two. I bought it from a government auction in Idaho, then converted it myself just in time to drive to New Mexico and pick up my co-pilot, Dottie. We have been living in it ever since. Someday it might be an adventure rig, but for now, it is home!
You became a Mt. Bachelor reporting celebrity quickly! Where did you learn your admirable reporting skills?
My first attempt at snow reporting was when I worked for Whitefish Mountain Resort, based out of Northwestern Montana the Winter of 2019/2020. That gig wrapped up quickly when the world shut down due to COVID and forced me to make the move back to Bend, which is obviously not a bad fallback town! My ability to talk fast came from a mixture of what is most likely undiagnosed ADHD, having a love for tongue-twisters as a child, learning to rap Eminem and Logic instead of studying at college, plus an inherent nerdiness for snow and weather as a nerd-meets-ski bum who loves math and numbers!
Do you have any other hidden talents?
I am damn good at cooking and making cocktails and have a weird knowledge of body mechanics! I was raised by a mother who is a physical therapist expert and after hurting myself enough, I became aware of anatomy and healing. My father is a professional chef, so at a young age, I started learning how to cook and how flavors play together to create an excellent dish!
When you are setting out for an adventure, what does your gear list look like?
Obviously adventure dependent, but most of my main adventures these days are ski-centered, so all my ski gear. My other activities include paddleboarding, hiking, and golfing. My backpack is almost always packed with a first aid kit, sunglasses, water, a refreshing local beer, and of course, BeGOAT!
How does BeGOAT fuel your adventures?
BeGOAT has become a big part of my daily routine! Being a full-time bartender and full-time adventurer, I am usually on the move first thing in the morning and don’t have a lot of downtime. Having a quick, convenient, clean energy, and healthy beverage for a morning and mid-day pick-me-up is super nice! Occasionally, I take the time to make a nice morning coffee, but most often I am grabbing a goat and taking it on the chairlifts as I get the day started. Usually, I enjoy a second BeGOAT as soon as I get to work in the afternoon.
What is your go-to flavor?
Definitely the watermelon dragonfruit! It is so refreshing!
Anything else you would like to add?
I just want to remind everyone to take a moment to get outside, be thankful for what you have, and Enjoy Every Day!
